New Year’s Resolutions

It seems that every year it is a tradition for people to make New Years Resolutions. A New Years Resolution is a commitment or a list of things that a person makes to one or more personal goals, projects, or reforming of a habit. A big difference from this set of goals compared to other goals is the idea that the New Year is the opportunity for a new start. People strive for something more and the goals that they set for themselves make them feel better. I haven’t set New Years https://happynewyear2021status.com/happy-new-year-2021-greetings-wishes/ Resolutions every year but I have before. I have had friends who also set New Years Resolutions for themselves. I have noticed people wait to set the resolutions until the New Year. Most stick to them maybe for a week or two and then gradually drift away from the goals they have set. What is the real reason behind waiting until New Years to start these resolutions and soon fall out? People make the goals and feel good about themselves for a short period of time but I don’t think they take it seriously. Why wait until New Years to set your resolutions and get started on them? I challenge you to take yourselves and your goals more seriously by starting your resolutions now; write them down, start them, and stick to them!

Realization

I think one of the most important things when writing your goals is to realize why you are making them and also understand what you can gain if you stick to them; and what you can lose if you don’t. So when making your New Years Resolutions, make a few extra columns in your table that I will list in the next few sentences. First and foremost, the first heading you will have is your goal. Then the next heading should be titled “Why?” There should be two more headings after that which includes “What I gain from sticking to my goal” and “What I lose if I don’t stick to my goal.” I feel that writing your goals down, why you set those goals, and knowing what you gain and lose from them will increase the likelihood of you sticking to those goals.

Recently I have injured my knee. I set a goal for myself to get back knee back to full health by the end of the year. I set the goal because it is my last year of college and I wanted to participate in the recreation basketball league. A positive that I will gain out of completing my goal is getting my knee back into shape faster, which will give me more time to gain strength back into my knee and legs. If I don’t stick with or complete my goal then it will take longer for me knee to recover, hindering results I could gain if I were completely healthy.

Again, why wait until New Years to set your resolutions and get started on them? I challenge you to take yourselves and your goals more seriously by starting your resolutions now; write them down, start them, and stick to them!
